โš ๏ธ This review has been updated. Binance was previously reviewed as available to Irish users. Following its failure to obtain a MiCA licence and suspension of EU services from 1 July 2026, it is no longer recommended for Irish investors. This page is maintained for reference and to help existing Irish Binance users understand their situation.

What happened to Binance in Ireland?

Binance applied for a MiCA licence through Greece in January 2026. On 24 June 2026 โ€” six days before the EU deadline โ€” it withdrew the application after reports that Greece's regulator was preparing to reject it. Concerns centred on Binance's anti-money laundering history and the criminal record of majority owner Changpeng Zhao.

From 1 July 2026, Binance must halt new regulated crypto services to all EU users including Ireland. Existing funds are safe and withdrawals remain open, but Irish users cannot make new deposits, trades, or earn staking rewards.

Binance has stated it intends to apply for a MiCA licence through France and return to the EU market โ€” but no timeline has been confirmed. Full story and what to do โ†’
